San Antonio Spurs coach Mitch Johnson recently suggested that complacency could well have hindered his side’s progress in the NBA finals as they battle a 2-0 series deficit against the New York Knicks heading into Game three on Tuesday.
Boasting a star-studded outfit that includes the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox, the Spurs suffered a 105-104 loss against the New York outfit in Game two at home on Saturday.
En route to an uphill battle in their bid to claim the 2026 NBA championship, no team has come back from a 2-0 deficit in the NBA Finals after losing the first two games at home.

Speaking ahead of Game three, Johnson believes that the Knicks stepped their game up and that his own charges failed to capitalize on ‘hard work’.
"If there's a thematic thing, the biggest thing is we've put in some good, hard work at times, and have not taken advantage of that hard work," Johnson said.
"That's been partially some undisciplined things for us.
“Also, New York has stepped up and made some plays at the end of the clock and finished out possessions."
