2025/26 English Premier League

Matchday 2

Fulham v Manchester United

Craven Cottage

London, England

Sunday, 24 August 2025

Kick-off is at 17h30

Manchester United will be determined to get their Premier League season up and running against Fulham at Craven Cottage in the late kick-off on Sunday, August 24.

The Red Devils were unfortunate not to get at least a point against Arsenal on the opening weekend after they had 22 attempts at goal and saw Patrick Dorgu hit the woodwork in the first half.

However, they were ultimately undone by Riccardo Calafiori's 13th-minute header after Altay Bayindir failed to deal with a corner into the six-yard box.

New signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were outstanding against the Gunners, while Benjamin Sesko made his debut off the bench.

Ruben Amorim's side went unbeaten in their five pre-season matches and won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series in the United States.

The Cottagers have struggled to bring in new players during the summer transfer window, making just one signing to date in goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

Nonetheless, Marco Silva's side enjoyed a bright pre-season, winning five of their six friendlies, with the solitary defeat (3-2) coming against Sheffield United.

The West Londoners picked up a point in their opening game of the new season after holding Brighton to a 1-1 draw at the Amex.

Silva was pleased with the never-say-die attitude from his players after they rescued a last-ditch draw courtesy of Rodrigo Muniz's 97th-minute equaliser.

"It was nice to see us fight until the end. The team spirit and mentality was there even if it wasn't an amazing performance," the Portuguese told FFCTV.

"It's always important to get a point away from home if you cannot get three points in your first Premier League match of the season."

Amorim expressed pride in his players for taking the fight to Arsenal, but admitted it was hard to lose the game given how well they performed on the day.

"It was a very good performance. I'm really proud of the players but, in the end, we lost the game," the Portuguese said.

"But again, for me, you can win and you can lose in the end, but I am proud of what they did, my players. It's a good feeling. At the same time, it's really hard to lose a game like this.

"Now we have to work tomorrow to recover and then prepare for the next game (against Fulham), work on the small things and the big things. We need to improve."
