After getting back on track in both
Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, Inter Milan are now targeting back-to-back wins in their upcoming Serie A obligations.
Prior to their 2-0 win against Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League, Inter suffered back-to-back defeats in Serie A, namely against Udinese and Juventus respectively.
Their inconsistent run of form now see them occupy 10
th position, while Cagliari occupy seventh place after four matches played.
Inter will now head into their next tie on the back of a 2-1 win against Sassuolo, in a game that took place at the San Siro on Sunday.
Speaking after his side’s latest win, Inter coach Cristian Chivu expressed that the Serie A giants needed the victory, especially against a strong opposite goalkeeper.
“The positive note is the victory,” Chivu said.
“We needed it, since we have been lacking in that respect and we also put in a good performance.”
“We could have closed the game earlier but we came up against a goalkeeper in great form.”
Following a slow start to the season, that included a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina which was followed up by a 1-0 loss to Napoli, Cagliari turned the corner somewhat in their last two outings.
Cagliari earned their first win of the season in a 2-0 result against Parma on 13 September, while they bagged 2-1 win against Lecce last time out.
