Aprilia Racing's Marco Bezzecchi insists his priority is to keep improving as he looks to close more ground on Francesco Bagnaia in the
Catalan Grand Prix on Sunday, September 7.
The Italian is enjoying a fine debut season with the Noale-based manufacturer, claiming his first podium when he won the British Grand Prix on May 25 ahead of Honda LCR's Johann Zarco.
Bezzecchi has grown from strength to strength since then, scoring his first pole position in the Austrian Grand Prix and finishing on the podium in four of the last five races.
The 26-year-old made up 36 points on Bagnaia after his P3 in the Hungarian Grand Prix and he trails his compatriot by just 31 in fourth place.
However, Bezzecchi is far more focused on continuing his trajectory in the final eight races of 2025 than catching Bagnaia in the riders' standings.
"After every race weekend, we go home and observe the situation. But for now, it's not my main goal," he said after his third straight podium at Balaton Park.
"Of course, if I can reach third place, it will definitely be better. But what I'm focusing on is continue on this path, to try to improve the bike and build a solid foundation for next season. These are my main targets."
