After suffering a damaging loss in their quest for
Serie A glory last time out, Inter Milan will return to the San Siro on Wednesday in a keenly anticipated clash against Fiorentina.
Inter’s four-match winning streak came to an end this past weekend after the Italian giants suffered a 3-1 loss to table toppers Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday.
As it stands, Inter are in fourth position, with 15 points to their tally after eight games played so far.
Regarding Fiorentina, Inter’s upcoming opponents could only manage a 2-2 draw with Bologna at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in their most recent league outing.
Fiorentina will go into matchday nine with four points in 18
th position and are yet to win a match in the 2025/26 season.
Reflecting on Inter’s loss to Napoli, coach Christian Chivu believed that his side lost focus in the tie as a result of arguing with the officials.
“I want to talk about the good things we did in the first half,” Chivu said.
“We stayed in the match, kept our balance, hit two posts and reacted after going behind.”
“We lost our balance because we were desperate to get back into it.
“We wasted energy arguing with their bench and from that point we weren’t lucid anymore.”
