2024/25 Serie A
Matchday 8
Juventus v Lazio
Allianz Stadium
Turin, Italy
Saturday, 19 October 2024
Kick-off is at 20h45
Juventus will be aiming to get their
Serie A title challenge back on track when they face Lazio at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday, October 19 in the late kick-off.
The Old Lady made a good start to life under Thiago Motta, winning their opening two games of the season, but they dropped points in four of their subsequent five outings.
Motta's side are still unbeaten after playing out to a 1-1 draw with Cagliari on October 6, although a fourth stalemate left them three points adrift of league leaders Napoli in third place.
Lazio are level with Juve and Udinese (5th) on 13 points, having recorded one more win than the Bianconeri, but also suffering two losses.
The Eagles registered their second successive win as they battled back from a goal down to beat Empoli 2-1 on October 6, making it three victories from their last four matches.
In team news, Francisco Conceicao is suspended for the hosts, while Weston McKennie, Vasilije Adzic (both muscular), Teun Koopmeiners (rib), Nico Gonzalez (thigh), Bremer (ACL), Timothy Weah (ankle) and Arkadiusz Milik (meniscus) miss out through injury. Manuel Lazzari (muscular) is the only injury concern for the visitors, who have an otherwise fully-fit squad.
Motta was far from pleased with the result against the Islanders, insisting Juve should have put the game to bed well before Razvan Marin equalised from the spot in the 88th minute.
"There are games that annoy you, today is one of those that makes me angry, because I am convinced we can do better: we have to digest this draw and move on," he said.
"We had a lot of chances in the first half, after we took the lead we had to keep our balance and attack better to put the game to bed, and we didn't do that, after which they scored.
"You have to be precise and clinical to close the game out, instead today we left it open; it's something we have to improve, because in the future there will be other moments like that."
