As one of the most in-form teams in Serie A at the moment, AC Milan could extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches when they take on Lazio on home soil this Saturday.
Under the tutelage of Massimiliano Allegri, Milan have been resurgent in their pursuit of claiming their first league title since the 2021/22 season.
Milan will head into their next game on the back of a 1-0 win against arch rivals Inter Milan at the popular San Siro stadium this past Sunday. As it stands, Milan are second on the log, two points behind log leaders AS Roma.
Lazio on the other hand are in eighth place on 18 points and picked up three wins in their last five Serie A encounters.
‘I Biancocelesti’, as Lazio are affectionately known, will go into this weekend’s encounter on the back of a 2-0 win against Lecce, in a game that took place at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
With Milan aiming for league glory, coach Allegri revealed picking up points against lower opposition will be equally important as winning the best teams on the table.
"The head-to-heads give great joy, but the league is also won by beating smaller teams," Allegri said after their win over Inter.
"We need to improve our attacking pressure. This week we finally trained together and that will help us physically. Claudio Filippi prepares the goalkeepers for penalties, he is outstanding at that job.
"Tonight's result [against Inter] is especially important psychologically. We could have dropped five points behind Inter, which is not huge, but staying in the top four matters."
