The Ducati BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider secured a podium spot at the Portuguese MotoGP on 9 November, the most recent event on the 2025 MotoGP calendar.
Alex Marquez finished second in the race, while also winning the sprint event and he left the Algarve International Circuit with a big 32 points.
MotoGP ambitions
The Cervera-born Grand Prix motorcycle rider is still placed second in the 2025 MotoGP Riders' standings, having collected 445 points from 21 races.
Alex, who has already clinched the runners-up spot, is 100 points behind 2025 MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez of Ducati, and 122 points clear of third-placed Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia heading into the final race.
Why Alex Marquez could win the 2025 Valencian MotoGP
The 29-year-old has been the most dominant rider in MotoGP races held in his native Spain this season, having won the Spanish MotoGP and Catalan MotoGP and finished second in the Aragon MotoGP.
Boasting the second-most victories (three) after champion Marc Marquez in the current campaign, Alex is a clear favourite to win the Valencian MotoGP and end a successful season on a high note.
What did he say?
“I tried to stay with Marco at the start of the race, but I quickly realised that it would have been hard to do so today," Alex Marquez said after finishing second at the 2025 Portuguese MotoGP.
"I kept my position while trying to preserve the front-tyre. In the end, I was struggling exactly with the front end, especially in the final part. I had fun and generally speaking.
"It was a very positive weekend."
