Oscar Piastri will be keen to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix in order to boost his ambitions of winning his maiden Formula One world title.

The McLaren driver failed to secure a podium spot at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on 9 November, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Piastri started on the fourth grid and he slipped up, which saw him finish fifth, while also being forced to retire in the sprint event due to an accident, but he left Brazil with 10 points in the bag.
Formula One title ambitions
The 2020, 2021 and 2023 Autosport Awards Rookie of the Year is still placed second on the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 366 points.
However, Piastri is 24 points behind of leader, Lando Norris of McLaren and 25 points clear of third-placed Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
Why Piastri could win the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix
The newly crowned 2025 Lorenzo Bandini Trophy winner has already tested success in the USA this season, as he won the Miami Grand Prix to boost his Formula One world title aspirations.
Piastri will reclaim the top spot in the World Drivers' Championship standings if he wins the Las Vegas Grand Prix and Norris fails to secure any points at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
What did he say?
"People can think what they want to think but for me, I know that I've still got what it takes to win the championship," Piastri said at the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
"Yeah, there have been bumps along the road but there have been bumps on the road for everyone this year at different points. I'm confident that I've learnt a lot of helpful things from the last couple of weekends in particular and I'm confident I can still perform at some of the heights of the success we've had this year.
"A lot of laps to go this year and I'm very confident I can still win."
