The New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers will spearhead an exciting NBA Eastern Conference final showpiece as coaches Mike Brown and Kenny Atkinson reveal bold statements ahead of Game One at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
With the Knicks enjoying a positive season overall, the New York side will head into the Conference final with a mental advantage over the opponents.
The Knicks won two of the three meetings against the Cavaliers in the regular season en-route to a third-place finish on the table.
However, Mike Brown has the bigger picture in mind as he hopes to guide the Knicks to a championship title.
“I do this to try and compete, to win a championship,” Brown said when quizzed on his performances this season.
“That’s what my focus is on throughout the course of the year. Throughout the year, it was going to be noise out there
“When Pop [Greg Popovich] was at his high, people talked about him.
“[Steve] Kerr, people talked about him. I've said this before, people can talk about Mike Brown for sure. But, it's my job to ignore the noise."

The Cavaliers advanced to the Eastern Conference final for the first time in eight years, while they finished in fourth place in the regular season.
While the Cavaliers lost in the second round of the playoffs in the last two years, coach Kenny Atkinson believes his side is primed for the next step in their process.
“This was the next step for us. First day of training camp, I put up the playoff record over the last three years, 11-15,” Atkinson said.
“I’ve been saying all year we have a lot to prove. We still have more to prove. That’s the next part of it, but we proved something to ourselves, that we could take that other step.”
