World no. 17 Ben Griffin is one of five past champions in the field for the Charles Schwab Challenge from 28-31 May.

The American is the defending champion after he carded a 12-under 268 to beat Matti Schmid by one stroke in 2025.

That was Griffin's second victory on the PGA Tour and he added the World Wide Technology Championship to his list of accolades in November.

The 30-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025 which delivered 10 top 10s, but he's only managed that once this year - a T3 at the Cadillac Championship.

Griffin finished a respectable T14 at the PGA Championship - the same score as world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler -  after shooting rounds of 71-70-67-70.

The 2025 United States Ryder Cup member recently detailed what the players actually earn on the Tour and the cost of what it takes to compete in events.

Griffin made nearly $12 million on the golf course in 2025, with approximately $50,000 being spent on things like travel, hotels and caddie fees on a weekly basis.

"For a majority of PGA Tour golfers, especially with what we play for, they make more money on the golf course," Griffin told Golf Digest.

"Sponsor money for certain top players, it's maybe slightly less. For some, more than others, just depending on how good of a year they had."

Last five Charles Schwab Challenge winners:

2025 - Ben Griffin (USA)

2024 - Davis Riley (USA)

2023 - Emiliano Grillo (ARG)

2022 - Sam Burns (USA)

2021 - Jason Kokrak (USA)
