Atalanta will be looking to cement third place in
Serie A when they make the journey south to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris for a clash with Genoa in the penultimate round of the season on Sunday, May 18.
La Dea are out of the title race as they trail league leaders Napoli by 10 points with a game in hand which is set to take place against Roma on May 12.
Gian Piero Gasperini's side continued their march towards a second consecutive campaign in the UEFA Champions League after cruising to a4-0 win over Monza on May 4.
The victory in Lombardy extended their unbeaten run to four matches and Atalanta have opened up a four-point gap to Juventus (4th) and Lazio (5th), while the Giallorossi are a further point adrift in sixth position.
The Griffin have already secured their top-flight status, but a poor sequence of results in recent weeks means they can no longer finish in the top half of the table.
Patrick Vieira's side arrested a three-match losing streak as they held the Partenopei to a 2-2 draw on May 11, although it left them eight points behind Como (10th) in 13th spot.
Genoa did gain some ground on Torino (11th) and Udinese (12th) after losses for both teams on matchday 35 reduced the gap to four points.
Vieira remains focused on the task at hand despite being linked with the Roma job and he wants to see the same fight from his players as was on display against Napoli and AC Milan.
"Me at Roma? There is talk of many players or coaches leaving, I am thinking about finishing the season on a positive note," the Frenchman said.
"This is the objective now and we have demonstrated it with Milan and Napoli. There will be time to think about such things after the season is over."
Gasperini has warned his players against complacency with their objective so close at hand and wants to keep the momentum going until the end of the season.
"We can't afford to lose focus: we're very close to our goal, and we need the enthusiasm to keep flying and reach another important milestone. Wasting it due to lapses in concentration would be a real shame," the Italian said.
