Grand Prix of the United Kingdom

Marc Marquez will look to build his lead at the top of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship Riders’ standings when he races at the Grand Prix of the United Kingdom, set for the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire on the afternoon of Sunday 25 May.
Ducati Lenovo’s Marquez has dominated the 2025 season thus far, claiming four full-length race wins from six rounds, allowing him to open a 22-point lead over nearest chaser, Alex Marquez (his younger brother) of BK8 Gresini Ducati.
Marc Marquez finished second at the French Motorcycle Grand Prix earlier this month, coming home behind home favourite Johann Zarco, who claimed an emotional and historic triumph in challenging weather conditions.
Though he was disappointed to miss out on the victory at Le Mans, Marquez acknowledged that avoiding mistakes and maximising his points total was more important for the bigger picture, as he chases a seventh MotoGP World Championship.
“[It was one of those] days when you need to minimise the damage. Because in these conditions it’s super easy to make a small mistake,” said the Spaniard.
“During the race, I was just trying to control [the gap to] Alex. He’s my brother, but he’s the main opponent for the Championship. At the moment he is the one closest to me. I just tried to manage the distance between me and him.”
Marquez heads to Silverstone as the clear favourite for victory, given the factory Ducati’s pace advantage, as well as his greater comfort with the machine compared to teammate Francesco Bagnaia, but he has not won a MotoGP race at the iconic track since 2014.
Last year’s Grand Prix of the United Kingdom was won by Aleix Espargaro on an Aprilia, in a surprise result, while the most successful rider in the event’s history is the legendary Valentino Rossi, who claimed six premier class victories (500cc in 2000 and 2001, as well as MotoGP in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2015).
