2024-25 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 38
Alaves v Osasuna
Mendizorrotza
Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain
Saturday, 24 May 2025
Kick-off is at 21h00
Osasuna will be brimming with confidence when they lock horns with Alaves at Mendizorrotza in the final round of the
La Liga season on Saturday, May 24.
Los Rojillos have made a late push for continental football after winning five of their last seven games to challenge Rayo Vallecano (7th) and Celta Vigo (8th) for the two remaining Europa League berths.
Vicente Moreno's side drew 1-1 draw already-qualified Real Betis on May 11 and followed it up with back-to-back 2-0 victories over Atletico Madrid and Espanyol.
The Pamplona outfit are level with Rayo on 51 points and trail the Sky Blues by one in ninth place, setting up a thrilling conclusion to the campaign for the three clubs.
Osasuna competed in the Europa Conference League last term which was the sixth time they had represented Spain on the continent.
The Babazorros retained their top-flight status with a 1-0 victory over rock-bottom Real Valladolid on May 18, having also beaten Valencia by the same scoreline four days earlier.
Eduardo Coudet's side occupy 14th spot, but they could finish anywhere from 13th to 17th as the five clubs in that bracket are separated by just three points.
Moreno was elated to sign off their home campaign with back-to-back wins and insists their achievements will not be diminished even if they come up short in the race for Europa League qualification.
"The most important result was ours. If we had the choice, we might have picked other results away from home, but we also have to consider that the focus was on the Conference and now we're just one point away from the Europa League on the final day," the Spaniard said..
"Whatever happens, we have to value what the team and the fans have done this season, who gave us the win today and supported us in the difficult moments. This year has been one of our best seasons at home, and that gives me peace of mind as a manager."
He also paid tribute to long-standing captain Unai Garcia, adding: "I was a player too, and I can say that I would have loved to be a captain like him, both professionally and personally.
"Twenty-five years here representing Osasuna's values is a great career, and the tribute speaks highly of the club, the fans and him."
