Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix

Round 7

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Montmeló, Spain

12-14 June 2026

The 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix returns to the iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 12-14 June, hosting the first of Spain’s two races this season.

What to know about the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix

This is the first-ever Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, but the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya previously hosted the Spanish Grand Prix from 1991 to 2025.

Spain will host two races in 2026, with the traditional Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for September 11-13 at the new Madring circuit in Madrid.

Most recent race

The Monaco Grand Prix (Round 6) saw Kimi Antonelli dominate for Mercedes, leading from pole to take his fifth win of the season.

Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari finished second and Isack Hadjar of Red Bull Racing completed the podium in third.

Standings

Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers’ Championship with 156 points, followed by Lewis Hamilton in second with 90 points and teammate George Russell third on 88 points.

Mercedes heads the Constructors’ Championship ahead of Ferrari and McLaren.

Favourites

All eyes will be on the title contenders in Barcelona: Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz.

Mercedes arrive with strong momentum and car upgrades, while Ferrari and McLaren hope to close the gap on the high-speed Catalan circuit, with home heroes Sainz and Fernando Alonso expected to thrill the Spanish crowd.

Quotes

“At the restart, I felt like I had a good start and suddenly I had a hope, and I lost two places but I knew that the car ahead had a penalty," said Isack Hadjar, who is placed eighth in the Drivers Championship standings, after finishing third in the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.

"But I had limited power and I never had to send it that much in my life through the corners to stay within five seconds of Pierre (Gasly). It’s an outstanding weekend considering how it started in FP1, and I had no confidence to get back up, but we did it so I’m happy.”

“Honestly, I trust my boys. They’ve been in Formula 1 as long as I’ve been on earth, so I think they know what they’re doing. And if it doesn’t stick then I’m ok with that as well, you know I had my podium. The emotions are still here, so it’s ok.”
