Franco Morbidelli will be hoping to register his first victory of the 2025 MotoGP season by clinching the Dutch MotoGP trophy.

The Ducati Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider missed out on a podium spot at the Italian MotoGP on June 22, the most recent event on the 2025 MotoGP calendar.
Morbidelli started sixth on the grid and went on to finish sixth, while also finishing seventh in the sprint race, which saw him collect 13 points from the event.
MotoGP title ambitions
The 2017 Moto2 world champion is still placed fourth in the 2025 MotoGP Riders' standings, having collected 128 points from nine races.
Morbidelli is 32 points behind third-place Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati and 142 points behind leader Marc Marquez of Ducati.
Why Morbidelli could win the 2025 Dutch MotoGP
The Rome-born motorcycle racer will be returning to the TT Circuit Assen, where he was crowned Dutch Moto2 champion in 2017.
Morbidelli, who has secured two podium finishes in the current season, needs to win this weekend's race in order to boost his MotoGP world title ambitions.
What did he say?
“I had a really good start and I was trying to manage the tyres at the maximum behind the top three guys, who were pushing a lot," Morbidelli said after the 2025 Italian MotoGP.
"I wanted to manage as much as possible to arrive with a good potential in the hardest moment of the race. But I made a mistake, and I had a battle with Vinales. Unfortunately, we had a contact,and he crashed. I apologized to him.
"I lost time for the double Long Lap, but we finished in sixth place, that is a decent result considering all the things that happened. There are positive aspects like the fastest lap in the race; so, it means that the potential is very high, we keep working to put all the things together.”
