Both nations are in search of lifting their very first WAFCON title, however, Morocco will hope to emulate their showings from the 2022 showpiece, in which they went all the way to the final. However, the Atlas Lionesses suffered a 2-1 defeat against South Africa on home soil, which was their most successful campaign in the tournament’s history to date.
In the same tournament, Zambia recorded their best ever placing by bagging a 1-0 win against Nigeria in the match for third place. Nevertheless, Morocco head coach Jorge Vilda Rodriguez expects the upcoming WAFCON to be more competitive than ever. “African football has immense potential,” Vilda stated.
“Everything is more and more balanced. The teams are preparing better, the national competitions are improving, the teams have better technical staff who help them to progress. “We see more organized teams and, above all, with enormous physical potential.”
