Belgian Grand Prix

Spa-Francorchamps

Following his disqualification at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix, George Russel will now look to claim his second win of the 2025 Calendar as he sets his sights on a podium placing at Spa this coming weekend.

Russel found himself excluded from the pack in 2024 after he was disqualified from the race owing to an underweight car.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old has one win under his belt so far this season after his impressive drive at the Canadian Grand Prix on 15 June.

Adding to his victory, Russel claimed five podiums this season and is currently in fourth position on the Driver’s list after 12 races.

Apart from a difficult outing at Silverstone earlier this month, where he finished in P10, Russel had tough questions to answer following race, given Max Verstappen’s sensational links with the legendary Constructor’s team.

Reflecting on potential driver movements next year, Russel expressed that he expects to be a Mercedes driver in the coming years.

"I want to continue with Mercedes into the future. The fact is, Toto Wolff has never let me down. He's always given me his word, but he's also got to do what's right for his team, which includes me,” Russel said.

“But it also includes the thousands of people who work for Mercedes.

"For me, it's nothing to worry about because I don't think I'll be going anywhere. And whoever my team-mate will be, it doesn't concern me either.”

Much like that of rivals Ferrari, Mercedes have been battling to match the pace set by McLaren on the Constructor’s list and sit in third place with 210 points to their name so far.
