2025-26 Spanish La Liga

Matchday 21

Atletico Madrid v Real Mallorca

Estadio Metropolitano

Madrid, Spain

Sunday, 25 January 2026

Kick-off is at 15h00

Atletico Madrid will be looking to keep the momentum going in La Liga when they welcome Real Mallorca to the Metropolitano in the early kick-off on Sunday, January 25.

Los Colchoneros are neck-and-neck with Villarreal in the race for third place after winning three of their last four matches and picking up 10 points out of a possible 12 during that run.

Diego Simeone's side went level with the Yellow Submarine on 41 points courtesy of their 1-0 victory over Alaves on January 18, but they're kept in fourth place on goals scored.

Both Villarreal and Barcelona suffered defeats on matchday 20 to allow Real Madrid and Atleti to gain ground in the battle for the top-four positions.

The Pirates boosted their survival hopes with a 3-2 triumph over Athletic Bilbao on January 17 to pull two points clear of the relegation zone in 15th spot.

Jagoba Arrasate's side have been flirting with relegation after losing five of their last 10 games, but the success against the Lions halted a three-match winless run.

The Balearic Islanders are in a three-way tie with Sevilla (14th) and Getafe (16th) on 21 points, while they're just three adrift of Elche (8th), Real Sociedad (9th), Athletic (10th) and Girona (11th).

Simeone once again addressed the club's lack of activity in the transfer market after Conor Gallagher, Javi Galan and Carlos Martin were all sold prior to the clash with the Babazorros, while no reinforcements have been forthcoming.

"It's true that Galan and Carlos Martin had played little, but we could count on them if necessary. Today they are not here, and there is still no-one else," the Argentine said.

"We are waiting for this to progress according to our needs. Today Conor might have come on, because we needed a midfielder with those characteristics.

"That's why [Marcos] Llorente played as a midfielder [and later] as a forward. One day, Llorente is going to ask me where else he wants me to play him! We're adapting to everything."
