2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 24
Getafe v Villarreal
Estadio Coliseum
Getafe, Spain
Saturday, 14 February 2026
Kick-off is at 17h15
Villarreal head coach Marcelino wants his team to maintain their high level of competitiveness when they take on Getafe at the Coliseum on Saturday, February 14.
The Yellow Submarine have picked up just one point from their last three La Liga outings, although they arrested a four-match losing streak in all competitions with a 2-2 draw against Osasuna on January 31.
Marcelino's side trailed Atletico Madrid by three points in fourth place with two games in hand ahead of Espanyol's visit to La Ceramica on Monday, February 9.
The Castellon outfit put up a fight against Real Betis and Real Madrid last month before ultimately losing both games by a 2-0 scoreline and Marcelino called on his players to show that same competitive spirit for the trip to Getafe.

Betis have closed within four points of Villarreal in fifth position following back-to-back wins, but Los Colchoneros slipped up on matchday 23 after being beaten 1-0 by the Andalusian outfit.
The Azulones halted a worrying run of eight games without a win as they defeated Alaves 2-0 on February 8 to pull four points clear of the relegation zone.
Jose Bordalas' side, who had drawn their previous two matches against Girona (1-1) and Celta Vigo (0-0), went level with the Blanquivermells on 26 points and find themselves just two outside the top 10 in 11th spot.

Marcelino was keen to put their poor run of results into perspective after losing four on the spin in all competitions before sharing the spoils with Los Rojillos at El Sadar.
"We were on a negative run of results, but as you know, I always like to differentiate between competitions," he said.
"At the end of the Champions League, we weren't playing for sporting objectives, and that's always on a player's mind. Especially considering that the match in Pamplona was very close.
"We lost against Real Madrid and Betis, but we competed at a high level. We drew against Osasuna and showed a good competitive level."
