John Parry will be determined to make history by becoming the first golfer to win back-to-back AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open titles.

What to know about Parry

The Englishman had a distinguished amateur career, highlighted by winning the Peter McEvoy Trophy in 2004, the Danish Amateur Championship and the Under-21 Faldo Junior Series in 2005.

Parry won both the Spanish Amateur and Welsh Amateur titles in 2007, before representing Great Britain and Ireland in the 2007 Walker Cup, and turning professional at the end of that year.

News

The 39-year-old was in action at the recent Alfred Dunhill Championship, the latest Sunshine Tour and European Tour event, which was held at the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, where he finished seventh.

Parry is placed 86th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and it is also his best overall ranking heading into the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Why Parry is among the favourites

The experienced golfer played some good golf in 2024, winning three times on the 2024 Challenge Tour season, and he also won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open for his second European Tour win - his first in over 14 years.

Parry, who finished 18th at the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge earlier this month before securing a top-10 finish at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, has what it takes to become the first golfer to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open twice.

Quotes

“I’m excited to return to the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open to try and defend my title," Parry said ahead of the 2025 edition.

"I have such good memories of Mauritius. The win was a major confidence boost for me in my career, and then to win the Opening Swing as well as a welcome bonus.

"And on top of this, the victory came on the day of my wedding anniversary. So Mauritius really holds fond memories for me and I’m looking forward to going back there."
