Matchday 2

Genoa v Juventus

Stadio Luigi Ferraris

Genoa, Italy

Sunday, 31 August 2025

Kick-off is at 18h30

Juventus will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge this season as they prepare to lock horns with Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday, August 31.

The Old Lady endured yet another disappointing campaign by their high standards as they finished fourth in 2024-25, a significant 12 points behind champions Napoli.

Juve haven't been contenders for the Scudetto since their last triumph in 2019–20, with their best finish coming two seasons ago when they secured third place - still a massive 24 points adrift of champions Inter Milan.

Igor Tudor's side made a positive start to proceedings after they beat Parma 2-0 on August 24, with the goals coming from Jonathan David (59') and Dusan Vlahovic (84').

Patrick Vieira guided the Griffin to safety in his debut season at the Marassi, having taken over the reins from the sacked Alberto Gilardino in November 2024.

The Frenchman won just nine of his 28 league matches last term and oversaw a 1-0 defeat to the Bianconeri in Turin on March 29.

Vieira's side went unbeaten in their four pre-season outings and claimed a point in their top-flight opener after playing out to a 0-0 draw with Lecce on August 23.

Tudor was pleased to keep a clean sheet against the Crusaders, although he acknowledged there is still plenty to improve upon, especially down the flanks.

"I'm happy. There's always a bit of tension at the start of the season because of all the unknowns, so the lads deserve credit," the Croatian said.

"Parma defended well, and we did well not to concede any counter-attacks, waiting for the right moment to strike. We were solid and didn't concede any goals.

"It's normal to encounter some difficulties in the early stages of the season. We could have moved the ball quicker on the wings. But I'm confident and I think we'll continue to improve."
