Rory McIlroy will be keen to continue his dominance in the
Tour Championship by winning the tournament for a record-extending fourth time.
What to know about McIlroy
The Northern Irish superstar turned professional in September 2007 after he decided to end his amateur career at the Walker Cup, where his overall record was 1–2–1, including a win in his Sunday singles match against Billy Horschel.
McIlroy is a five-time major champion and he has 44 professional tournaments, including 29 PGA Tour victories and 19 European Tour wins, which makes him one of the best golfers in the world.

The 36-year-old participated in the recent BMW Championship in Maryland, USA, where he secured a top-15 finish as he finished 12th.
McIlroy is currently ranked second in the Official World Golf Rankings and has spent over 100 weeks in the top spot during his career.

The man nicknamed Rors is the joint-most successful golfer in the history of the Tour Championship, having won the event three times, a record he shares with Tiger Woods.
Having won the tournament in 2016, 2019 and 2022, Rors is now looking to set a new record and also register his fourth victory of the 2025 PGA Tour season.

“I just think that extra week off will do me good with the events coming up," McIlroy said as he explained why he missed the first event of the 2025 FedEx Cup season, the St. Jude Championship.
"Some big events that are important to me—the Irish Open, Wentworth (BMW PGA Championship), obviously the Ryder Cup. I want to try to win my seventh Race to Dubai over in Europe as well.
"There's some things that are still important to me that I want to go play in. That was a big part of the reason why I wanted to take that extra week off last week.”
