Following a retirement at the Czechia MotoGP, Alex Marquez will hope to keep up with the pace set by his brother, Marc Marquez at the top of the Rider’s standings heading into this weekend’s
Austrian MotoGP.
While his brother extended a 120 point lead on the Rider’s list at the Brno Circuit, Alex was left frustrated after crashing out on lap two.
Marquez, along with Joan Mir, were the first riders to exit the race after the former lost control on turn 12 before taking out the latter in the process. As a result of his mistake, Marquez will now serve a long lap penalty in Austria.
The Spaniard currently has one win to his name this season, which came at the Spanish MotoGP back in April.

While an additional seven podiums helped Marquez to 261 points for the season so far, the brother of Marc has called for patience in the title race.
“We have twelve races behind us, ten left,” Marquez said.
“We’re second in the standings. Nobody takes that away from us.
“It’s true, the leader is now one hundred and twenty points away, and becoming champions is practically impossible without extraordinary events.
“We have to keep our line but, on complicated weekends like this, we need more patience.”
