Lando Norris will be hoping to deliver McLaren’s first strong result of 2026 at the Miami Grand Prix, a track where the team has won the last two editions.

The McLaren driver finished fifth in the Japanese Grand Prix on 29 March, the most recent round of the 2026 Formula One World Championship.
Norris scored 10 points at Asia, but struggled with the car’s balance and overall pace compared to the dominant Mercedes.
Formula One ambitions
The reigning Formula One World Champion sits fifth in the Drivers’ Championship with 25 points after three races.
Norris trails the Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell as well as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, with McLaren needing a strong upgrade package to close the gap to the leaders.
Why Norris could win in Miami
Norris has a fantastic record in Miami, winning the Grand Prix in 2024 and taking victory in the Sprint in 2025.
The Sprint weekend format suits his aggressive style, and McLaren traditionally perform well on this track. A strong result here would kick-start their title defence.
What did he say?
“Looking forward to getting back in the car! It’s been a bit of a tough start but Miami is always a fun one and we’ve had good results here the last couple of years. Hopefully we can have another strong weekend," Norris said ahead of the 2026 Miami GP.
“I would like to think so [that we can still fight for the title]. Of course, we’ve come back from a lot worse in other seasons and still as a team went on to win a constructors’. So there’s no point ruling it out until that chance is gone.
"We’re still only three, four races in. We know we have some good things coming.”
