Athletic Club will be hoping to continue their push for a UEFA Champions League finish in
La Liga when they visit Real Sociedad for the Basque Derby at the Anoeta Stadium on Sunday night, 4 May.
The visitors are coming off the back of a 1-0 win over Las Palmas and will be looking to keep up the momentum as they currently occupy fourth in the league standings.
The team is also still in the running for the Europa League title, as they are set to face Manchester United in the semi-final hurdle of the competition.
Dynamic winger Nico Williams has been linked to a number of clubs, but he seems to be focused on elevating his game for the Lions.
In a recent interview, Williams said that he would like to improve himself and play similarly to AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao.
“What would I steal from Leao? His strength, when he gets going he is unstoppable. He is very fast and has a lot of strength,” he said.
“Many times he uses his body well and does not even need to dribble. He stretches for the ball and recovers it by winning the challenge with the opponent. I would steal this from him.”
Bilbao head coach Ernesto Valverde has responded to the rumours that his star player Nico Williams might be on his way out of the club.
With much speculation about Williams, Valverde says the focus should be on making the team one that makes players want to stay.
“The important thing is that the players want to be with us. For that it is important that the team offers the players the possibility of growing and winning, we are not going to fool ourselves. That Nico can continue with us this year is also important for our own self-esteem,” said Valverde.
